Generic Application Craze

02.01.08 | Comment?

With only a comparatively hand full of developers currently on Face Book, it seems that most applications are looking more and more generic. The current mentality is “Make something once, clone it 100 times!” This may be fueling the current application development process, but in the months to come will they still continue to compete?

The current mentality in the development community is how do we make a quick buck? The most efficient way to accomplish quick cash is cloning applications already developed. Lets take for example “What is your stripper name?”. This has been cloned hundres of times with minimal effort. “What is your Pirate Name?”, “What is your Space Alien Name?” After a while, it get sickening.

What Face Book needs right now is a flood of new and innovative applications. These will undoubtedly unveil themselves in the upcoming months and more and more talented minds in the programming industry start to realize the potential for growth in this emerging field. When this starts to happen, watch the Generics start to drop!
